In conjunction of Safer Internet Day, Google is offering something really sweet for Google Drive users. If you are willing to spend a little bit of your time to perform a simple, 3-step security setup, extra 2GB of storage will be yours. The deal is valid until 17th of February 2015, so you better act fast.

You can click here to perform the checkup. You will need to sign in to your Google account and follow the three steps accordingly. The three steps to be completed include:

  • Ensure your account recovery information is up to date.
  • Review your recent sign-in activity.
  • Confirm permission for apps and devices that access some account information.

Once you complete all the steps and you will see 3 green checkboxes. This means that you will be eligible for the free storage and secure your own data. The extra storage will be awarded automatically around 28th of February and by that time, a notifying email will be sent to you. Just take note that Google Apps for Work and Google Apps for Education users are not eligible for this offer.

Every user will have 15GB of storage when they register to store every piece of your information in Gmail and other Google services. As most people are using these services, either on mobile devices or on PCs, having extra storage and staying more secure will be very useful. More importantly, it is free of charge and hassle-less. So what are you waiting for?
