OnePlus 2 is probably one of the most hyped phone in 2015. You just can’t ignore it if you are following tech news everyday. OnePlus 2 is not officially launched yet at this moment. However, OnePlus has released the some information of their new phone a little by a little before the launch to attract our attention.
The OnePlus One managed to disrupt the smartphone industry by offering wonderful specifications at an unbelievably low price. This won a lot people’s hearts and it is the reason why we listed it as one of the most notable devices in 2014. The success of OnePlus One for being the “2014 Flagship Killer” make the expectation exceptionally high for its sequel. OnePlus seems to be pretty confident with the OnePlus 2 and the company calls it the 2016 Flagship, even though we are still in the middle of 2015.
We already new that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Although the chip suffers from some thermal throttling issues, it is still one of the most powerful chips in the market. OnePlus 2 will have 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, USB Type-C connector and a fingerprint sensor. The phone will run their home-brew OxygenOS where some of the Android M features will be included even though they are yet to be released officially.
The specifications are great and OnePlus promised that the phone will be priced below $450 (Around RM1720). The price is seriously attractive for what you are getting. The phone will be announced officially on the 27th of July so we can learn more about it very soon. The launch event will be live streamed in normal video format and via virtual reality. You can download OnePlus 2 Launch app to watch it. Of course, you need a Cardboard to experience the event through virtual reality.
One of the greatest problem people was facing while getting the OnePlus One is the limited stock. You need to get an invite in order to buy the phone and you need patience and luck to get an invite even after months the first batch of phones were shipped. The invitation system will return for OnePlus 2, which is a little annoying.
You can earn invites by participating their contests and by staying active in the forum. If you don’t have time for that, you can sign up for the reservation list as another option. You might have the chance to get an invite if there are any invites left unclaimed. Here’s the link to learn more about the invite and to make a reservation.
The phone is not launched yet and you might not be sure what to expect. There is a big chance that it won’t be shipped to Malaysia directly too. However, I would advise you to make a reservation if you plan to get a phone later this year. You don’t have to pay anything yet and who knows you might want it later.
